It is hard to put in words how beautiful and joyful was the Indian wedding of Shruti and Sunil in Portland Oregon. In the words of many it was the largest wedding celebration in Portland this year. I must confess that initially Sandra and I a little intimidated by the size of the wedding and because we had never photographed an Indian wedding before. On top of that the wedding was at the Portland Art Museum one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Portland but also a very dark place. The challenge was to use radio controlled lights and at the same capture the beauty, color, and mood of the wedding. It is easy to just blast light all over a wedding venue but if destroys the mood then the photos don’t look like the place was at the time of the wedding. Shruti provided us with lots of background information about traditional Indian wedding ceremonies. It was like taking a course in Cultural Anthropology. We learned that every single detail and step of the wedding ceremony has cultural, traditional and human meaning. We were so honored to learn about such a wonderful culture and its millennial traditions.

It was a long day, we started photographing at 8:00 AM and finished at midnight. After 16 hours and many photos we came home and were very glad with the beautiful wedding photos that we had the privilege to capture.

Mr. Shah the father of the bride just called the other day to tell us how happy he is with the wedding photographs. He wants to take us to dinner. Wow, we feel so honored and would love to spend some time with the Shah family. They are amazing people!!

Did I say before that we loved weddings and we actually look forward to the wedding season?
Every wedding is a joy to photograph. It is true that sometimes the next day I feel like I was hit by a truck but when we see the joy a and the beautiful photos we feel it is worth it.

Below are a few photos from Atina and Ryan’s wedding. We enjoyed every single minute of this wedding. As a bonus because of the heat I lost 5 pounds

The greatest reward that we get from photographing wedding is when couples and their families are happy with the photographs. We just got an email from the father of a bride that we photographed in June. It just made our day:

The sweet sideways glance of the bride to the groom, the peek around the corner: these are the moments in time that captured the heart of the day. We are all thankful, to both of you, that those moments will become a part of our family history.

You work is beautiful, and for us it is also wonderfully intimate. It has heart. Those small moments, captured forever, require insight and knowledge of your equipment. You were ready, and capable, when the ephemeral moments came before you. I would not have seen them all without you. As a father, I am very thankful to you for that gift.

I want you to know I appreciate your skill, profession behavior, and sensitivity. You do good work.

Ainsley and Tim were such a joy to work with during their beautiful and unique wedding in Newport, Oregon. Family and friends gathered together, all helping with different aspects of the event, to make this a memorable wedding. We were able to capture amazing formal and candid photographs. At the end of the day, when the light was perfect, we took advantage of a few minutes for a quick walk on the beach to capture their romance.

The Couple: Angie and Justin The Venue:The Grand Ballroom Salem, Oregon The Photographer Salem Oregon Wedding Photographer : Juan Carlos Torres

We had a great time photographing Angie and Justin’s wedding in Salem Oregon. It seems that we have become the official wedding photographer of the Schott family. Through the years we had the privilege to photograph several weddings in this awesome family.

I would like to thank my friend James McCormick from Studio Coburg for helping me photograph this wedding. You did an awesome job.

We did most of the formal photographs at the lobby of the Phoenix Grand Hotel in downtown Salem. As always, I bring my studio lights to the formal session. I know, they take time to setup but the results are always professional quality.

We took Angie and Justin for a quick night walk around the Grand Ballroom. The challenge was that it was dark and we wanted beautiful photos. We had to manually focus the cameras, set up the flashes to manual mode and drag the shutter speed to capture the ambient light. The incoming traffic provided rim light for many of the photos. We are really happy with the night wedding photos. A professional wedding photographer should never be afraid of the dark!

We were really happy to have the opportunity to photograph Bailey and Mark’s wedding in Eugene Oregon. They are such a lovely and happy couple who really appreciate high quality wedding photography. Everything at their wedding was perfect as you can see in the photos, lots of friends, family and the joy of their love. To make things even better their wedding was held at McKenzie Oaks Ranch one of the most unique and beautiful wedding venues in Oregon. We had a great time!!!

I received the pictures in the mail today, my goodness we are going to need a big photo album! Mark already has a picture in a frame to take to work tomorrow and next we are going to look through them all! I can’t even begin to tell you how pleased we are with your work!
